Because it’s the beginning of a parenting journey !!! When mums feel the power of birth - they are so strong .mother’s need to feel heard and they need to feel supported by those who matter to them . The birth can be a positive healing experience which set the family up for positive life

It’s poor latch.

Oversupply, undersupply, sore nipples, gassy baby… yep all of that can be solved by correcting bub’s latch.

I know it’s overwhelming. Especially when you have so many people telling you different things. The biggest rule of thumb is that if you are feeling pain or discomfort, something isn’t right… so please seek out the advice of an IBCLC - International
Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

It usually only takes me one, maybe two sessions to fix whatever is going on 🙏🏼☺️

I don’t know about you… but there is no doubt

I don’t know about you… but there is no doubt in my mind just how superior the female gender is 😜

But seriously your uterus goes from the size and shape of a pear before pregnancy, to the size and shape of a watermelon when you’re full term!

It’s during labour though when the uterus really shows its incredible muscle strength… as it helps encourage the cervix to dilate, and then ease baby out.

Uterine contractions are so powerful it is actually possible for an unconscious mother to deliver a baby without actively pushing 😱

This is my face 🙄 when I still hear people claim there is nothing you can do to achieve a positive birth…

Spontaneous vaginal birth might not be your goal (and I’m certainly not saying it’s the only way to have a positive birth) but we need to stop acting as though it’s always a fluke.

We are seeing more and more research highlighting just how important birth education is, and this needs to be shared so mums realise it’s not all out of your control.

We cover all of this in my Hypnobirthing classes but I’m curious to know… do any of these findings surprise you?

I had a thought the other day… how cool would it be to help support a pregnant mum that I helped deliver as a baby! 🥰🙌🏼🙏🏼

Here is a #ThursdayThrowback to my early midwifery days… in fact this is 22yo me during my training at Modbury Hospital.

I knew from the age of 16 after witnessing a birth on work experience that I wanted to be a midwife… so this photo is me living my dream.

And I’m so proud, honoured and grateful to still be living it all these years later! Kate xo

I’ve heard it said that writing a “birth plan” only sets mums up for failure but I think it’s the exact opposite.

Taking the time to consider your options and how comfortable you are with certain interventions means that you can make fast, informed choices if they’re presented to you.

It’s important to ✨let go of pressure ✨ when writing your birth preferences.

You cannot control exactly how things will go, and so you must keep an open mind!

👆🏼this is going to help keep you calm and relaxed no matter what turn your labour takes.
